Throughout Sunday and Monday there’s plenty to do at weDJ whether you’re a beginner DJ, seasoned club pro or you take the party to the crowd as a mobile DJ/events company. In addition to the incredible range of products that will be available to try, we have a number of workshops and industry panels for you to attend, and if you want to demonstrate your skills there’s our Open Decks Session, Controller Cuts competition and for the turntablists the Sunday Scratch Jam is the place to do battle.

LONDON SOMETHING PODCAST LIVE – LONGEVITY IN THE DJ BOOTH
Join DJ Ron as he hosts a panel of industry luminaries for another London Something Podcast Live, where they’ll discuss consistency and relevance in the evolving landscape in and outside the DJ booth.
Whether it’s the ever changing tech, music styles or how one markets their brand, these guests have been through it and remain at the top in their chosen fields.
Last time out, the discussion on Dubplate Culture was under the microscope and those who were lucky enough to be in the audience got a fascinating insight into an often overlooked element but essential part of DJ culture in the 90s.
This time, we’re sure that Ron and his guests will shed light on how you maintain “Longevity In The DJ Booth“.

Come up with your best 5 minute set (or just freestyle) on 2 turntables (Technics SL1210Mk 7) and a mixer (Pioneer DJ DJM-S11). Scratching, mixing, juggling, tricks, acapellas – its all good! Just be creative and original. This isn’t strictly a ‘Who can scratch the best’ type of battle. This is a scratch jam. The judges will be looking for routines, scratches and sets that make them smile and jam.
What you will need on the day
– Either your traditional records or your laptop with DVS software enabled and control vinyl
– If you use Phase, please bring yours
– Your headphones if you use them
– a routine of no longer than 5 minutes.

THE FUTURE OF DJ TECHNOLOGY – HOSTED BY MOJAXX
Mojaxx, host of Beatsource Tech and industry stalwart, will be joined by a panel of guests including DJs, tutors and product development specialists to discuss “The Future of DJ Technology”.
Expect the conversation to provide a fascinating insight into the future of the DJ industry, which has recently seen a great deal of technical innovation including the explosion of STEMS in DJ software from every major software house and product manufacturer.
Streaming is likely to be another hot topic, as is the potential acceleration of AI powered tech – will it be a friend to the DJ, or an enemy?
With Mojaxx as your host, you can be sure that – with the help of his guests – he’ll provide an insight into the next wave of tech in the booth.

If scratching on DJ controllers is more your thing, come along and compete in the ‘Controller Cuts’ DJ battle on the Hercules IMPULSE T7. Get a 5 minute set together (or just freestyle), scratching, mixing, juggling and tricks to be in with winning a wicked prize.

REMIX MASTERCLASS – PRESENTED BY TAYYLOR MADE
Join renowned DJ and producer Tayylor Made for a masterclass in how to create a remix.
With production and writing credits under her belt including Digga D, Kano and Raye, TAYYLOR is recognised as a constant and respected figure on the London and international club scene.
As a DJ, Tayylor is perfectly suited to get you started the right way for making those banging edits for your DJ sets.
Focussing on the basic principles of remix and track creation, Tayylor will share the knowledge gained from countless hours sat at the mixing desk sculpting the next club banger!
BE HEARD BROADCAST PANEL – JAY CUNNING
Join our panel for an insight into how you can be heard on radio. Once you’ve nailed the selection and mixing, how do you secure a place across the airwaves with so much competition?
You’ll hear from veteran presenters who have honed their skills over decades to deliver some of the best broadcasts around. In addition, you can gain an insight into what radio station bosses are looking for as we’re joined by management from two prominent radio stations.

OPEN DECKS – POWERED BY ON THE RISE
If you’re a new DJ looking to play out for the first time, or even if you’re a bit more established and want to get some experience under your belt, this is the place to be.
If you want to get on the decks, all you need to do is grab yourself a free ticket and turn up on the day and to register (arrive early!) The first few sets of the event will be for drop ins on the day. Registrations will start at 2.30pm
This open decks event will be split into 20 minute sets between 3pm-6.30pm
The Kit: 2 x Pioneer DJ CDJ 3000’s, 2 x Technics SL1210MK7 & A Pioneer DJ DJM-A9
What you will need on the day
– A rekordbox prepared USB with your tunes / A laptop with relevant subscription software / your records

MONDAY OCTOBER 14TH 2024
BEGINNER DJ WORKSHOP | ON THE RISE DJ ACADEMY
Join Terry from On The Rise DJ Academy as he provides an insight into the basics of DJing.
Terry will cover a wide range of topics including:
- Understanding Beats, Bars and Phrases
- Song structure analysis
- Equipment set up & functions
- Tempo & BPM
- Introduction to Beat Matching
- Phrase Mixing & Mix Points
There will also be a chance to ask questions and get hands on with the kit – practice makes perfect!
INTERMEDIATE DJ WORKSHOP | ON THE RISE DJ ACADEMY
For our second workshop session of the day, Terry from On The Rise DJ Academy will build on the foundation provided in the earlier Beginner Workshop. This is also the workshop to attend if you’ve already got a basic understanding of mixing and want to enhance your skills further.
Terry will cover:
- Advanced Beat Matching
- Advanced Phrase Mixing
- Advanced Effects
- Harmonic Mixing (Mixing In Key)
- Introducing Loops
- Using effects in the mix
As always, you’ll be able to get hands on with the gear to put into practice the techniques explained and Terry will be on hand to answer any questions you might have.
SCRATCH WORKSHOP | ON THE RISE DJ ACADEMY
We’ve all seen those master turntablists at work, furiously scratching and beat juggling and thought “I’d love to do that!” The reality is it will take years of practice to get to DMC standard but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn the basics of scratching to add that little something extra to your set while you’re at weDJ!
Terry from On The Rise will help you understand the basics in no time at all (trust us, he throws down a quick scratch every time he passes a set of decks/cdjs). During this workshop Terry will cover:
- Equipment Set Up for Scratching (Crossfaders, Needles, DVS/Jogwheel Settings, EQ settings)
- What Sounds You Can Scratch
- Core Scratch Techniques (Baby Scratches, Cutting, Release Scratches, Drags, Transforms, Chirps, Stabs etc)
As always, you’ll get hands on and can ask any questions to help you take your DJ sets to the next level.
WOMEN ONLY SERATO DJ WORKSHOP – ON THE RISE DJ ACADEMY
As part of our continued drive to push access to DJ’ing through inclusivity, On The Rise has created a Women Only Serato DJ Workshop for Monday October 14th at weDJ.
We’ll cover a broad range of topics including:
- Introduction & basic functions
- Introduction to the DDJ-FLX4 controller
- Playlists: Getting started
- Introduction to beat grids
- Basic DJ Skills
- Sync Function – automatic beat matching
- Cue Points & Loops
- Effects: Getting started
